Reference number

Description
A-types were the first trolleybuses to enter service in London. Staff called them 'Diddlers', although this name was never adopted by the public. They were introduced by London United Tramways, part of the Underground Group. Trolleybuses were cheaper to run than trams and were very popular with passengers. This trolleybus, Number 1, was the first in London and ran from 1931 to 1948. In 1962 it took part in a ceremonial run to mark the last day of London trolleybuses.
