By Bicycle

Did you know that Covent Garden is only a 15 minute bike ride from Hyde Park, 5 minute cycle from Waterloo, 15 minutes from Kings Cross, 20 minutes from Hoxton Square, 30 minutes from Victoria Park, 30 minutes from Clapham Common or 30 minutes from Fulham?

There are bike racks located nearby in Southampton Street and Bow Street, and a few minutes walk from the Museum on the corner of Russell Street and Wellington Street. A full list of cycle parking locations across Westminster can be found on the Westminster Cycling Campaign website.

By Cycle Hire

You can also get here easily using Santander Cycle Hire. The nearest Docking Stations are available behind the Museum on Tavistock Street, and a short walk from the Museum on Wellington Street or Southampton Street.

By Bus

The closest bus stops to the Museum are Savoy Street, Southampton Street / Covent Garden, Lancaster Place and Aldywch. 

TfL’s Hopper fare lets you make unlimited pay as you go bus and tram journeys within one hour of first touching in for a fixed fee.

By Underground

The closest Underground stations to the Museum are Covent Garden (2 minutes walk away), Leicester Square (4 minutes), Holborn (5 minutes), Charing Cross (7 minutes) and Embankment (8 minutes). These stations are not step-free.

The closest step-free Underground stations are Tottenham Court Road (12 minutes), Westminster (18 minutes) City Thameslink (19 minutes) and Green Park (22 minutes).

The closest railway stations to the Museum are Charing Cross (8 minutes walk away) and Waterloo (17 minutes), which both have step-free access.

Embankment Pier is the closest pier to the museum (10 minutes walk away).

There is very limited parking space for coaches: the nearest coach bays are on Victoria Embankment, SW1. Information about coach parking locations and prices can be found on Westminster City Council’s website.

There are a very limited number of parking spaces available near the Museum. Pay-to-park tariffs vary, with a maximum stay of around 4 hours.
