Description | Croydon Tramlink moquette standard and priority is designed by London based design company Wallace Sewell (Harriet Wallace-jones and Emma Sewell) who are well established designers of moquette having designed the Landmark/Barman moquette, the Overground moquette and the Crossrail moquette. It was always one of Wallace Sewell’s ambitions to design the fabric for public transport. Emma and Harriet loved the orange/black rectangular moquette from the 1970s and dreamed they would be involved with designing for Transport for London one day. Wallace Sewell was commissioned by Transport for London to design the moquette for the Croydon Tramlink after winning the competition to design the moquette for the Overground. Wallace Sewell took inspiration from the urban and semi-country route of the trams, they introduced grey to represent the urban and the green to suggest the countryside through which the trams travel each day. |
