Description | This edition of the Underground diagram by Hans Schleger has a blue airbrushed background which emphasises the Central Area. The lines have been drawn thinner than previously and the interchange stations are shown as thick circles. Authorised extensions are included as a dotted line as used for the Central line extensions to Denham and Ongar, the extensions on the Northern line to Bushey Heath, High Barnet and Alexandra Palace and the Bakerloo extension to Stanmore. The District and Piccadilly lines to Hounslow West are now horizontal instead of diagonal, as is the Central line to Ealing Broadway. The Metropolitan line is shown as far as Aylesbury with the branch to Chesham. The GWR and LMS line between Uxbridge Road and Willesden Junction has been included on this diagram, as well as the Waterloo & City Railway. Finally the escalator link between Bank and Monument is no longer named and has been redrawn as steps instead of a dotted line. The UndergrounD roundel logo is not shown on this version of the map. The front cover of this edition is red with a black roundel, and there are four maps of Central London. |
