Get ready to track down Billy Brown of London Town around the Depot

During October half-term, we are tracking down Billy Brown of London Town at both the Museum in Covent Garden and at the Museum Depot in Acton Town.

Billy Brown is a vintage cartoon character who appeared on posters on London’s buses and Tubes in the 1940s. This unlikely wartime ‘hero’ helped Londoners navigate the Capital safely by using catchy rhyming couplets designed to make important safety messages memorable.

A one-way self-guided route around the Museum Depot will allow visitors to discover our Aladdin’s cave of more than 320,000 transport treasures, including historic buses and Tube trains, vintage signs and curious objects from bygone eras of travel in the Capital.

You will be able to walk through the Museum’s beautifully restored 1938 Tube stock train and unusual green and grey Prototype Tube dating from 1986, as well as climb aboard the top deck of the Chocolate Express. Children will also receive a craft pack that they can complete during their visit or take home as a memento of their day.

Don’t forget to check out our fun Billy Brown activities for you to enjoy from home on our Family Activities page!

October Half Term at the Museum Depot is taking place from Saturday 24 to Sunday 25 October and Wednesday 28 October to Sunday 1 November 2020.

Tickets must be booked in advance to guarantee entry.
