Family Whats On

There's something for the whole family at London Transport Museum. We run a range of events - come and enjoy singing and story sessions every week during term time, or explore our collection with special events every school holiday, including creative and crafty activities linked to our exhibitions and collection.

All our family events in the Museum are free with your admission ticket. Kids go free!

Time: Drop in between 11.00 and 15.45
Location: London Transport Museum, Covent Garden

Look out of the train window, and what will you see? When you travel with Thameslink, you’ll see some of London’s loveliest landmarks, including St Paul’s Cathedral and the River Thames and the city’s most sensational stations, many of which were improved as part of the Thameslink programme.

During May half term, take part in our STEM-inspired workshops and story time sessions. Get creative with your family and make a turning train out of crafty materials that whizzes past your favourite city views, and hear about some of the amazing landmarks you can see along the Thameslink route.

Depot open weekend

Family Funacton family fun

Time: 11:00 to 17:00
Location: Museum Depot, Acton

Prepare for a weekend adventure as we launch our second annual Open Weekend dedicated to our youngest visitors and their families.

Take your pick from the packed programme of transport themed activities and experiences on offer, from musical story time sessions, miniature steam railway rides and heritage bus excursions to specially designed family tours of the Depot and creative make and take sessions.

Explore the Depot and its hidden treasures and get inspired about the story of transport - past, present and future.

Suitable for families with children aged 3-12

Top designer Wayne Hemingway created today’s London Transport uniforms, recognisable the world over. But what does it take to make a great transport outfit?

Take on the role of a material scientist to experiment and discover what keeps London’s transport workers equipped, safe and comfortable.
Design and create new clothing for all your transport needs then test them for durability with water, heat, light and wind (hold on to your hats!).

Can you code? Join us to learn how to code a sequence of events to keeps London’s transport ticking.

And if you already do know how to code, why not show your family how to as well?

Singing and Stories Singing and Stories

Date: Tuesdays during term-time at 10.45, 12.00, 13.45 and 15.00

Duration: 45 minutes per session

For families with children aged 5 and under. Free with museum admission.

Join us to find out how people get around the city. With stories about hopping on a bus to the Museum and songs about catching a tube to London Town, there’s something for everyone. Sessions include singing and dancing, as well as the chance to see and touch objects from the Museum collection.
