Description | In 1989 London Underground and Whitechapel Art Gallery commissioned the prestigious performance artist Bruce McLean to produce this poster. McLean was born in Glasgow where he studied at Glasgow School of Art (1961- 63). He moved to London in 1963 to attend an advanced sculpture course at Central St Martins College of Art and Design. During the second half of the 1960s, he produced experimental works characterised by impermanence, including 'floating sculpture' and performance art. In the mid-1970s he began to paint, initially as preparation for performance works. |
