Description | London Transport published this poster in 1950. It formed one half of a 'pair poster' designed to promote London's West End. This format, which comprised one poster for the image and one for the text, offered both the artist and the copywriter more freedom. Pair posters were intended for prime sites such as Underground station entrances. In this poster, Molly Moss has captured the electric ambience of Piccadilly at night. The cold winter's evening looks bright as light spills on to the pavements from shop windows and advertisements. Everyone is wrapped up in coats and scarves, but even these add to the colourful atmosphere. |
