    Out and about; winter London
    Text
OUT & ABOUT Winter London When dusk begins to fall and the starlings assemble in the trees along the embankment, London takes on a special enchantment. Colour spills on to the pavements from the shining caverns of the shop windows. The tall buildings lose their outlines, and flower in the gathering dark. If pantomime and circus, theatre and cinema are full, there is still for everyone the free and brilliant pageant of the evening; the silent traffic on the river, furrowing the long reflections of the lights; rainbow mist drifting from the fountains in Trafalgar Square; Piccadilly Circus...Linking the bright streets run friendly red buses, ready to carry you to winter entertainments, or on your own unofficial tour of the lights of London. And, when the evening is over, they will take you home. by LONDON TRANSPORT Buses on most routes serving the West End run until about 11.30 p.m. on weekdays, 11.0 p.m. on Sundays. Details of the times of the last buses can be seen on notices on the bus stops at the main traffic centres. The times of the last trains are shown in the ticket office at each station. Last Green Line Coaches leave the Central Area about 11 p.m. daily. But for full information about all London Transport services ring up or call at the Traffic Enquiry Office, 55 Broadway, Westminster, S.W.1. (Telephone Abbey 1234)
