Description | Billy Brown of London Town was a cartoon character created by David Langdon during the Second World War. London Transport commissioned a series of Billy Brown posters and adverts to inform and advise passengers on wartime safety procedures. Billy's 'little notes of friendly warning' usually appeared in rhyme. London Transport held a competition for the completion of this verse: the author of the couplet in red won £10. |
