Each of us has a part to play in helping to protect our climate.

With the race on to reach net zero by 2030, we’ve been asking what will our city look like ten years from now? How will we travel around? And what technology, skills and jobs are needed to create a more sustainable future?

To help raise awareness about the impact of climate change on our city and how we can create a green future, we’ve teamed up with Mastercard, Mott MacDonald, Cubic Transportation Systems and Sopra Steria to deliver our Climate Crossroads programme.

Taking inspiration from the engineering ingenuity of London’s transport past, Climate Crossroads invites you to be curious about how green transport and technology will help shape the future of London, and what we as individuals can do to be a part of this change.

The transport industry is already working on lots of solutions.

Transport for London currently power more than 1,300 London homes with waste heat from the Tube and a new fleet of electric and hydrogen buses is helping to reduce CO2 emissions. But it isn’t just big businesses that are taking action to make a difference. The things we do as individuals all add up to make an impact too.

During the summer holidays, from Saturday 22 July to Sunday 3 September 2022, when you visit the Museum you can explore our interactive Green Journey installation to get you thinking about a greener future for London. You’ll also have the chance to take part in creative and hands-on workshops, sensory storytelling and movement sessions and a stamper trail around the Museum.

As you explore, you’ll discover the role transport can play in making the capital more sustainable, and how we can all do our bit to help tackle climate change.

Choosing to walk, cycle or use public transport instead of driving, turning our lights off to save energy in our homes or recycling or reusing our household plastics are all simple acts which can add up to create big changes.

As part of our partnership with Mastercard, London Transport Museum will also restore 1,500 trees through the Priceless Planet Coalition.

Thanks to Mastercard’s global forest restoration partners - World Resources Institute and Conservation International - these trees will be planted in locations across the world which have the greatest potential for positive impacts on the climate.

Restoring trees is a simple and powerful way of capturing CO2 and mitigating climate change, and we’re proud to be supporting this effort to help create a greener future.
