Depot open weekends

Acton Depot

The Museum Depot in Acton is our working museum store - a treasure trove of over 320,000 objects.

Three times a year, we throw open the doors and welcome thousands of visitors to explore. Discover rare road and rail vehicles spanning over 100 years, signs, ceramic tiles, original posters, ephemera, ticket machines, and more.

Depot Open Weekends take place three times a year, typically in April, July and September. With talks, activities, tours and fun for all the family, these festival-style events are an exciting opportunity to celebrate, learn, and enjoy one of the most comprehensive collections of urban transport anywhere in the world.

Poster Power

Poster power

Our poster collection contains some of the best examples of posters as an art form anywhere in the world, with over 5,000 unique posters and 15,000 records online.

The tradition of employing both established and emerging artistic talent to promoting public transport was started by Frank Pick in 1908. Since then, posters have played a key role in the wider vision of corporate transport design and have helped to inform, educate, reassure, entertain and inspire the millions of passengers who see them.

Even though our Depot may be closed for now, explore our Digital Open Weekend on our online Poster Power hub.
