While Charles Holden was developing his world-famous modernist station architecture for the Underground Group in the 1920s and 1930s, the Metropolitan Railway was perfecting its own unique style.

Architect CW Clark designed stations in two distinct designs for locations in the City or suburbs of ‘Metroland’ – areas in the north-west suburbs of London that were built as the Metropolitan Line expanded.

The City stations acted as the ‘gateway’ to these newly built suburbs. Discover some of these stations on this tour, including Farringdon, Great Portland Street and Baker Street.

Learn about the legacy of the Victorian stations along the line and how Clark’s urban designs reflected the distinct character of the Metropolitan Railway.

* Your ticket price includes a Metroland tour, half-price entry (one-day ticket, applies to on the door price) to London Transport Museum, and 10% off all Hidden London-inspired products at our shop, valid within one month of your Hidden London event date.
