All aboard for Christmas and New Year Family Fun at London Transport Museum from 30 November 2019 until 5 January 2020.

Families can enter a magical forest with twinkling lights, and visit Santa’s Secret Christmas Cabin, or track him down in one of the Museum’s heritage vehicles for a Super Santa Selfie.

Enjoy playful, interactive storytelling sessions, create special bunting and decorations to take home, or join a Christmas vintage bus tour to see the lights and sights of London. There are also adults-only Christmas vintage bus lights and sights tours.

And the whole family can stand out from the Christmas jumper crowd in the Museum’s exclusive London transport inspired Christmas jumpers available only from the Museum’s Covent Garden and online shops. All profits support the museum’s charitable work.

Family Fun

  • Search for Santa and get a free Christmas badge when you find him in his Secret Cabin or in the Museum galleries (from 30 November to 23 December)
  • Create bunting and decorations for Christmas and New Year using London’s iconic roundel, bus or jumper shapes with a variety of sparkly materials
  • Join in lively singing and storytelling sessions using a selection of props and instruments

Get nostalgic with the Museum’s Festive Fun display of fabulous vintage London transport posters celebrating Christmas activities such as ice-skating, walking and shopping.

Visit the new Upper Deck café and enjoy seasonal treats. Grilled sandwiches with honey ham or nut roast, treats such as mince pie slices and Christmas cookies, or choose a winter drink – salted caramel flat white, orange hot chocolate or gingerbread chai lattes.

Climb aboard our cosy vintage RT bus and experience the wonder and excitement of the West End at Christmas time.

Wind past spectacular displays and illuminated landmarks, to the sound of classic festive songs. Starting at London Transport Museum in the heart of Covent Garden, families can get into the festive spirit with a festive film screening, crafts and treats before heading off through the sparkling West End, finishing outside the Museum.

Early Explorer Morning

Families with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), can have exclusive access from 08.30 on 14 December when the Museum opens one and a half hours before the Museum’s usual opening time of 10:00. Enjoy the Museum at a quieter time, free from the general public, and with many of the gallery sounds turned off. Visit at the most magical time of the year and take part in the Museum’s Christmas activities.
