London Transport Museum has been named Best Medium Museum at the Kids in Museums Family Friendly Museum Awards for 2021.

The announcement was made in an online ceremony on 11 October hosted by art dealer and broadcaster, Philip Mould (BBC’s Fake or Fortune?).

Since it launched in 2004, the Family Friendly Award has become a benchmark of excellence in the heritage sector. Each year Kids in Museums receives hundreds of public nominations, which are whittled down to a shortlist by an expert panel. The final say goes to families, who visit each shortlisted museum over the summer holidays, and decide the winner.

Competing against three other shortlisted museums across the UK, we clinched the win with family judges praising its helpful staff, activities for all ages, good value for money, work with local young people and great facilities, including low level sinks, space for buggies and good choice of food.

One family judge said:

‘We had a great time. The museum is absolutely wonderful for families! We’re looking forward to going back again and bring the grandparents along as it is interesting and entertaining for adults and children alike!’
