Multicoloured stripy bags, purse and scarf

We’ve teamed up with textile design studio Wallace Sewell to celebrate 160 years of the Tube with an exclusive new range of accessories available from our Covent Garden store and online shop.

Celebrating the Underground and its influence on the city, the stylish design weaves together the iconic colours of the Tube lines into a striking geometric pattern with the colours of the Elizabeth line, the Overground, the DLR and Trams interwoven to pay homage to the contemporary Tube map we know today.

Wallace Sewell is known for their famous moquette designs for Transport for London, which include the Elizabeth line, Overground, and iconic Barman pattern found on the Bakerloo, Central, Jubilee and Northern lines.

But the fabric for the Museum’s Tube 160 Wallace Sewell Collection is not to be mistaken for the durable, woollen seating material used in upholstery on public transport; quite the opposite. The new range of accessories are all made in the UK from beautifully soft pure wool of the highest quality.

  • Keep warm while adding a subtle pop of colour to your outfit with the gorgeous Tube 160 Wallace Sewell Scarf (£70). Made from pure wool and packaged in a fully recyclable, FSC certified kraft box and tissue paper, it’s perfect for gifting.
  • The Tube 160 Wallace Sewell Tote Bag (£80) features an inner side zipped pocket, magnetic clasps, and inner lining to keep all your things safe and secure. Designed by Wallace Sewell and manufactured by Kalopsia, this stunning tote bag will have you running your errands in style.
  • Look cute while carrying your things with the Tube 160 Wallace Sewell Cross Body Bag (£50). Designed by Wallace Sewell and manufactured by Kalopsia, the bag includes inner lining, a silver zip and adjustable strap to fit comfortably across you.
  • Designed by Wallace Sewell and manufactured by Kalopsia, the Tube 160 Wallace Sewell Purse (£25) will carry all your things in style. Featuring inner lining and a silver zip to keep your items secure.

Our exclusive range of accessories has been produced as part of its line-up of events and activities to mark 160 years of the Tube in partnership with Transport for London. This is the second time the we have teamed up with Wallace Sewell to mark a major milestone in the Underground’s history.

In 2013, Wallace Sewell designed an exclusive limited edition collection with London Transport Museum for the 150th anniversary of the Tube. A decade on, this new range of accessories features an updated, contemporary take on this sold-out design.

Sam Mullins OBE, Director of London Transport Museum said:

With the creation of their first moquette pattern for the Underground in 2010, Wallace Sewell became part of London’s transport history, shaping the personality and character of our city’s stylish new line. It’s been a privilege to work exclusively with the team on the design of our latest range to celebrate the Tube and its role keeping Londoners moving over the last 160 years. We believe the public will love this line-up of stylish, high-quality accessories as much as we do.

Co-Founders and Directors, Harriet Wallace-Jones and Emma Sewell said:

We are honoured to be a part of the history of Transport for London and London Transport Museum, and we hope that we have interpreted the iconic Tube map, originally designed by Harry Beck in 1933, in a modern yet timeless way: instantly recognisable, yet subtle enough to be worn by anyone. Congratulations and happy 160th birthday to the London Underground.
