What is the Community Access Scheme?

London Transport Museum would like to connect with organised community groups and charitable organisations that provide activities, services or support to residents within the boroughs that are local to the Museum in Covent Garden and our collection store at the Museum Depot in Acton.

We hope to start to build sustainable relationships with local community and charitable organisations that join the Community Access Scheme, starting with offering a visit to the Museum or Museum Depot for community groups.

Benefits of joining the Community Access Scheme

For members at the Museum

  • Up to 20 free annual adult tickets that can be used for group visits to the Museum in Covent Garden throughout the membership
  • Annual networking event for organisations and group leaders who are part of the scheme, which will be held at the Museum
  • Opportunity to receive email updates about relevant offers and news from LTM throughout the year

For members at the Museum Depot

  • Access to book a Depot tour and creative workshop for your group at the Museum Depot in Acton
  • Annual networking event for organisations and group leaders who are part of the scheme, which will be held at the Museum Depot
  • Opportunity to receive email updates about relevant offers and news from LTM throughout the year.

We hope to offer more benefits as the scheme develops and as we gather feedback from scheme members.

Applying for membership

Criteria for applications

There are two membership options available, depending on the borough your organisation is based in:

The Community Access Scheme at Covent Garden is open to local community and charitable organisations based in Camden, City of London, City of Westminster, Islington, Lambeth and Southwark. This is currently open to applications.

The Community Access Scheme at the Museum Depot is open to local community and charitable organisations based in Ealing and Hounslow. This is currently open to applications.

As part of your application you will be asked to provide information about the projects, activities or services your organisation offers within the community and how you believe a visit to London Transport Museum or the Museum Depot will benefit the people you work with.

How to apply

Simply complete the form below and someone from the Community Team will get back to you shortly to discuss your application.

If you have any questions about the scheme please contact [email protected]

  • Is there a deadline for applications?

No: we welcome applications to the Community Access Scheme at any time.

  • How long does my membership last?

Membership to the Community Access Scheme will be valid for one year from the date your application is approved. After this time membership can be renewed on an annual basis.

  • How many free tickets will my organisation receive?

    For Covent Garden Membership

Each organisation can bring up to 20 adults free of charge as part of a group visit (must be booked in advance). Your group can visit as many times as you like, making use of the free 20 adult tickets, throughout your membership. These tickets are assigned to your organisation, not individuals, so different adults can be brought for each group visit you make.

    For Depot Membership

Each organisation can bring up to 16 individuals for a private tour and creative workshop at the Museum Depot in Acton Town. Your group can visit more than once to accommodate as many people as possible, pending scheduling availability. Booking requests are made directly with the Community Learning Team, the process outlined in your membership confirmation letter.

  • Are the tickets for adults and children?

    For Covent Garden Membership

Children and young people aged 17 and under can visit the Museum for free (under 12s must be accompanied by an adult). The free tickets can be used for adults only.

    For Depot Membership

You are welcome to bring adults and children of any age to your visit.

  • What is the application process and how long will it take?

Complete the application form found below.

Once you have submitted the form a member of our Community Learning team will be in touch to arrange an informal chat. This is so we can get to know more about your organisation and the people you work with.

We will then need to set up your unique membership code so that you can book your group visit with our bookings team.

We are a small team, so we will aim to get in contact within 10 working days of receiving your form.

  • How do I book my group visit to the Museum?

Once your application has been approved and you have joined the Community Access Scheme, you will receive a confirmation letter with your organisation’s unique membership number.

    For Covent Garden Membership

To book your group visit call the Bookings Team on +44 (0)343 222 5000 and quote your membership number along with the date and time of your visit. Dates and times for group visits are subject to availability.

    For Depot Membership

To book your group visit, email [email protected] and quote your membership number, along with your preferred date, time, and approximate number of participants. Dates and times for group visits are subject to availability.
