Description
The DMS was the first mass produced London double- decker designed for one-person operation. It featured two doors and a central staircase, which enabled greater ease of access on and off the bus. It had an automated turnstile for passengers with the correct fare. An attempt by London Transport to brand the buses as 'the Londoner' was unsuccessful. In total, 2646 DM type buses were produced between 1971 and 1982.
