Description | This ventilation grille is taken from the interior of an O-stock car. It was centred above the carriage dividing door, close to the ceiling. Its function was to allow fresh air to come in from outside. Despite its rather mundane function, care has been taken to make it a decorative feature. It incorporates London Transport's roundel logo. When the O-stock cars were first introduced in 1935, they were for use on the Hammersmith & City line, but later some were transferred to the Metropolitan mainline. |
