Description | Moquette is the durable upholstery fabric used on public transport across the world. This abstract pattern comprises wavy horizontal and vertical dark green lines of varying thickness on graduated blocks of brown and beige, on a mainly green background. It was used on Q1-class trolleybuses. The moquette was manufactured by John Holdsworth & Co of Halifax, West Yorkshire, one of the leading manufacturers of moquette fabric. It still produces for London Transport. The green, brown and beige shades are typical of post-war moquette designs and were suited to trolleybus interiors. Many vehicles were later fitted with the R.T. moquette pattern, but this was less successful. |
