Description | After the Second World War, a new uniform was introduced for the After the Second World War, a new uniform was introduced for the male conductors working on Country Buses. This is part of that uniform, which included the Gibson ticket machine and a leather cash bag. The conductor would also have worn green trousers, a green peaked cap and badge in the roundel design that signified his job type. For many years, conductors used Bell Punch ticket machines and a ticket rack to issue tickets. In 1953, the Gibson ticket machine was introduced. This mechanised the procedure, saving the conductor time and making ticket issuing more efficient. Formed in 1930, the Country Bus and Coach division provided express coach services to the Greater London suburban towns and beyond. |
