Description | Mid calf length A line wool skirt of the type issued to LGOC female bus conductors, 1916-1919. With pop stud and hook and eye fastenings, two darts (possibly at sides) and two panels (possibly at front and back). The hem is reinforced with cotton binding across the stitching to prevent hems coming undone and part of the hem is reinforced inside with a leather strip (possibly at the back) which is very degraded. The skirt's original navy blue colour is evident at the top but the lower two thirds have faded to purple. The skirt is unlined, although there is cotton facing at the waist band. The skirt has no pockets or belt hoops. |
