Description | By the 1940s, Austin had become the major manufacturer of black taxis in London. The FX4 was released in 1958, replacing the FX3, and quickly became a London design icon. It went through a number of models, including the FX4D. This specification manual provided details of the design modifications. The most important of these was the increase in engine size form 2.2 litres to 2.5 litres. |
