Description
The Southern Railway (S.R.) operated out of London and, before the railway was nationalised, covered the southeast, southwest and south coast regions. It was a pioneer of railway electrification. S.R.'s dense suburban network south of the Thames played an important part in the spread of London in the 20th century.
