Description | From 1932 onwards, this style of sign was fitted to lamp posts to direct passengers to the Underground stations. This example is for Holland Park station on the Central line. The use of the four-flight Mexican arrow and the yellow background shows the sign dates from between the mid-1920s and 1933, when the London Passenger Transport Board (L.P.T.B) was formed. Later versions use the standard colours of red, blue and black adopted by London Transport (L.T). |
