Description | This version of the LGBTQ+ Pride flag was created in the city of Philadelphia in 2017 and adopted by TfL in 2019. The black and brown stripes are included to draw attention to issues affecting people of colour within the LGBTQ+ community. Gilbert Baker's first rainbow Pride flags were flown at the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Parade celebration on 25 June 1978. Since then the flag's use has continued and new variations have been created. There are many further flags and symbols representing different LGBTQ+ identities. Many organisations and corporations adopt versions of the flag for their logos during Pride month, and in doing so sometimes attract criticism for their limited inclusivity of LGBTQ+ people's rights. |
