Description | Following the outbreak of the First World War, bus driver James Woodards joined the Army Service Corps and was posted to France to drive troops to and from battle. He left behind his wife Solange and his newborn baby son. This sweetheart charm in shape of a service dress cap belonged to Solange. Inside is tiny photograph of James. A chain can be threaded through the loop in the cap so that the charm can be worn as a pendant. Woodards, who worked for the London General Omnibus Company (L.G.O.C.), served in the 319th Motor Transport Company. He was awarded the Military Medal, the 1914/15 Star, the British War Medal, and the Allied Victory Medal. |
