Description | Allied Victory Medal 1914 - 1919 awarded to Private Walter John Cornell of the Army Service Corps (ASC). Mr Cornell, a LGOC bus driver in civilian life, drove a B-type bus in France, transporting troops to the front. The medal was granted to all those who served in a theatre of war between 5 August 1914 and 11 November 1918. The design on the obverse represents a winged Victory holding a wreath in her right hand. The ribbon is watered, ie the colours appear to blend into each other. Medals of similar design were issued by many other Allied countries. |
