Description | On 16 April 1940, London Transport's Chief Executive, Frank Pick, announced his retirement from the company. This silver inkstand was presented to him by his colleagues at the London Passenger Transport Board (L.P.T.B.) to mark the occasion. It includes the inscribed signature of Lord Ashfield, the Chairman of the Board. Pick's retirement at the age of 61 was due to several factors including a conflict of opinion with Lord Ashfield, and a decline in his health. |
