Description | Twin handled metal cup, ornate cup body, without base. Cup; inscription on one side reads London Transport Swimming and on other side reads Men's Diving Championship. On underside silvermarked and stamped E. Tessier 26 New Bond St. The hallmark of 1904 suggests that this cup, first awarded in 1948, had an earlier use and was used in this form as a result of post Second World War shortages or to avoid purchase tax which was payable on new silver items at this time. |
