    UNDERGROUND THE BOAT RACE The first Boat Race was rowed at Henly in 1829 since when Oxford have won 38 and Cambridge 26. In 1877 there was a dead heat. The record time is 18 mins. 29 secs. in 1911 when Oxford won by 3 1/4 lengths. Cambridge's best time is 18 mins. 47 secs. in 1900 when they won by 20 lengths. The last race was in 1914.
