Description | This poster epitomised London Transport's approach to publicity after the Second World War. It was designed by Misha Black and John Barker in 1947, the year Harold F Hutchison was appointed publicity officer. The distinctive bar and circle logo, known as the roundel, had come to signify every aspect of London Transport's activities. Here, the roundel appears in three-dimensional planetary form. It is projecting light and hope onto the war-torn City. 'London Transport at London's Service' was designed in two halves. This side presents the image, and another carried the supporting text. This design format, known as 'pair poster', was introduced for prime sites such as Underground station entrances. |
