Description | Cyril Kenneth Bird (Fougasse) produced a number of public information posters for London Transport between 1925 and 1945. He used humour to communicate with the passengers and present everyday instructions and advice in an eye-catching and memorable way. This poster advises passengers to have their ticket ready at the gate. An angry-looking queue forms as a woman casually searches through her bag for her ticket. Adherence to an established code of conduct on the Underground was particularly important in wartime, when it was more difficult to keep passengers safe and services running smoothly. |
