Description | This poster is from a series commissioned in 1942. Each one highlighted a different aspect of the vital repair work and maintenance that was carried out by London Transport staff throughout wartime. Many of the workers were women, lending a certain irony to the title, 'Back Room Boys'. In the central picture two women assist a male colleague working on a trolley bus. The illustrated border shows the depot at Fulwell. The poster layout is reminiscent of that of a First World War poster series by Archibald Standish Hartrick. |
