Description
This poster promotes the hire service offered by the London General Omnibus Company (L.G.O.C.) for private outings.
One such outing, a day trip to the country for a picnic, is illustrated by L B Black. Details for arranging a private hire are included as part of the destination board on the bus.
The L.G.O.C. was taken over by the Underground Electric Railways Company of London (U.E.R.L.) in 1912. It adopted the fleet name 'General' and used a striking red and white colour scheme. The livery was adopted by London Transport in 1933, and marks the origin of London's famous red buses.
