Description | Construction work at Queen's Road (now Bayswater) Underground station, District Railway created prior to the excavation of the cutting for the track. The framework of the elliptical roof which will eventually cover the platforms is in place, as are the brick retaining walls, with their alcoves. Some rather primitive scaffolding, supported on wooden poles, can be seen in the foreground. A large stack of bricks stands on the right. A number of workmen are visible in the foreground, one of whom is standing beside a two-wheeled cart. |
