Enid Parkinson worked in the canteen of the Wood Green bus garage. In 1973 she won the annual London Transport (LT) 'Catering Queen' competition. The competition recognised the hard work of LT catering staff across London. In the early 1970s, many of these staff were women like Enid Parkinson who had been directly recruited from the West Indies by LT, or immigrated to the UK with their families.
