Description | In 1928, a group of South African herdsmen came to England to deliver a herd of 100 Friesian cattle. After having to spend 4 months in quarantine at Southampton, they took the opportunity to take a bus tour of London before returning home. This picture was taken as the men passed Trafalgar Square in an open-top bus. Reports referred to the men as Black 'Boys', who were 'delighted' to be in London, reflecting colonial views of the time. |
