Description | In the 1980s, London Underground focused its spending on much-needed station refurbishment. Holborn station was refurbished between 1985 and 1989. The platforms were redecorated to include bright enamel panels on the walls. The panel in this photo was designed by Allan Drummond. He borrowed Victorian glass plate negatives form the nearby British Museum to recreate the images. This example shows an Egyptian sarcophagus. |
