Description | Opening of the Chesham Extension Railway, Metropolitan Railway. Image shows "Special" train possibly leaving Chesham Station on route to Rickmansworth. The train consisted of four long coaches, two second class and two first class in the centre and was drawn by two locomotives, "Wellington" and "Walsall". A large crowd can be seen assembled on the adjacent bank whilst a few onlookers are clearly seen on the station platform. |
