Physical description
Item content Attribute Value Annotation PICCADILLY, LOOKING EAST FROM DOWN ST., 1923. SHOWING THE GIRDER FRAMEWORK OF THE PROPOSED PARK LANE HOTEL AND, IN DISTANCE, THE JUNIOR CONSTITUTIONAL CLUB.
The private residences shown in the photograph on opposite page were demolished about 1912, the site having been acquired by the Park Lane Hotel Co. The girder work was erected about 1913-14; further progress was stayed by the outbreak of the War, and subsequently financial difficulties debarred the completion of the building. This gigantic "birdcage" has thus been an eyesore of Piccadilly for some ten years. Photograph (taken Mar. 8) by Topical Press. U/D. Copyright.Design Attribute Value Shot long exterior -
