Description | A wash drawing, by an unidentified artist, of the busy interior of King William Street Underground Station, City & South London Railway. A train is waiting at the platform; passengers are boarding to the left of the shot, whilst those to the right have just got off the train. The station was opened in 1890 and closed in 1900, principally owing to its location, at the end of a steeply-inclined tunnel running in an easterly direction. The railway was subsequently rerouted north of Borough to London Bridge, Bank and Moorgate. |
