Description | The Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) at Stockwell station at the official opening of the City & South London Railway (C&SLR). The Prince's carriage is drawn up outside the station and an awning has been erected over the entrance. Mounted police stand to right of photograph; a line of soldiers, apparently presenting arms, is just visible on the opposite side of the road from the station, which is decorated with bunting. Several people are standing on the roof of station, and on the balcony of the adjoining house. |
