    MILLBANK, FROM LAMBETH BRIDGE, 1923.

On left is the new station of the London Hydraulic Power Co. - a necessity but a disfigurement; next is seen St. John's Church (in Smith Square), and then Cromwell House (Mines Department), with King's House (not finished when photograph was taken) at the rear. On north corner of Dean Stanley St. is Westminster House (British American Tobacco Co.), and, beyond it, the building of the Crown Agents for the Colonies (architects: John W. Simpson and Maxwell Ayrton). On extreme right appears the corner of the building of the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, the first of the great blocks of offices erected on the new Millbank. Photograph (taken April, 1923) by Topical Press. Underground copyright.
