    Annotation
    ST MARTIN'S-LE-GRAND, LOOKING NORTH, 1904.

On left appears the new Administrative Building of the G.P.O., opened in 1894 and built on the site of the old Queen's Hotel (formerly the "Bull and Mouth") and the French Protestant Church.

Observe the newspaper placard and its reference to the birth of a son to the Czar - a tragic reminder of recent events in Russia. Coupled with it is one relating to Admiral Togo, commander of the Japanese fleet in the war against Russia.
