Observe the projecting B. M. A. building in distance; this marks the extent of the widening carried out in the 'Thirties of the last century - and the widening of the Strand is still proceeding, by quarter-century instalments, as it were. Coutts' Bank now occupies the site of the old Lowther Arcade, and the Underground hangs out its sign.
