    Prototype Trains (1954) Salient factors.) [sic]

    The bodies will be of light weight aluminium alloy, unpainted to eliminate original painting (except for red waist band) and to facilitate cleaning. 14% more passengers can be carried, weight of train being 7 tons lighter than present rolling stock.
    Twopair [sic] of facing seats in each compartment and improved fluorescent lighting[.] Improved suspension by replacement of steel springs by special rubber cushioned bogies, this will also reduce wear and vibration besides reducing noise and provide better riding. Train destination will be shown on an illuminated panel high above the driver's door on the front of the train.
