BLACKFRIARS: THE JUNCTION OF NEW BRIDGE ST WITH QUEEN VICTORIA ST, SHOWING A PORTION OF THE EXTERIOR OF THE DISTRICT RY STATION, 1906.

Prior to the formation of Queen Victoria St (as a Citywards extension of the new Embankment highway), New Bridge St was connected with Blackfriars Bridge by Chatham Place, "a pile of elegant buildings", as a London guide of 1851 puts it. Observe the omnibus - a TRAMWAY TERMINUS service, running between King's Cross and the Surreyside of Blackfriars, connecting the tramway terminals at these points.
