Description | Double deck horse-drawn knifeboard tram no 217, c1879. Its route ran from Moorgate Street to Clapton via Hackney Road; this route was eventually taken over by trolleybus route 555, and then became part of bus route 170. The vehicle is seen with a passenger wearing an eye patch on the upper deck, whilst the driver and an inspector/conductor stand beside the vehicle. A small boy is staring at the camera, background left. |
