Description | G (Guy) type garden-seat bus, Reg no GLL574, on route 83 to Southall via Hendon and Ealing. The type was introduced by London Transport in 1941, of which 75 were in service in July 1943. The specifications were: 4 wheeler: seats 30 passengers upper deck, 26 lower deck. A particular feature of the bus was the wooden slatted seats, which were introduced by the direction of the Minister of War Transport. Wooden seating was used in place of rubber filled and moquette covered types. The seats were a war time measure and recalled those introduced on London Buses in 1881 and withdrawn in 1925. There is a motor car and set of traffic lights also in shot. |
